Volunteer Opportunities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                 Interfaith Assistance Ministry offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to match everyone’s interest.  Volunteers normally work one four-hour shift per week.  Shifts are 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM and 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.  For more information about the volunteer program at IAM, contact the Volunteer Managers at: vol7iam@bellsouth.net or (828) 697-7029.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Client Receptionist

Greet, register, take

background information

and update files of families

seeking assistance. Basic

Intake Worker

Interview families to gather information and determine

eligibility for assistance.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Administrative Receptionist

Handle all incoming calls.

Greet visitors and direct them

 to the appropriate staff.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

File Manager

Maintain client files. Deliver

files to departments as required. Process out-going mail.

Basic computer skills required.

 

 

 

Medi-Find Worker

Work with patients, local

physicians and pharmaceutical manufacturers to assist patients

in obtaining free or low cost medications from manufacturer's patient assistance programs.

Must be detailed oriented and

enjoy paperwork.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pantry Stocker

Sort food from MANNA

 Food Bank, congregations, businesses and civic groups

and individuals. Stock shelves

in food storage area and food pantry. Must be able to lift 40

 to 60 pounds.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maintenance Volunteers

General handyman skills needed for minor repairs, painting, plumbing, building shelves, gardening, etc. Serve in an as-needed capacity.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pantry Worker

Receive and fill food orders for

families in need. Break down bulk

food items into family-size servings. Accept food donations.

 

 

 

 

Clothing Closet Worker

Sort and size incoming clothing. Assist clients with clothing orders.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Representative Payee
Work with clients as their designated representative payee with the Social Security Administration. Provide a caring and supportive atmosphere

for them while dealing with the financial aspects of their lives.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Special Project Volunteers

Work on an as-needed basis

with bulk mailings, purging files

and assisting with special events.
