IAM School Supply Drive
Each
year, IAM collects donations of school supplies and backpacks for students
whose families are in a financial crisis.
Last year, your generous donations made it possible for IAM to provide
school supplies for 448 Henderson County children. Help us help Henderson County
students begin the 2008-2009 school year with the supplies they need to do
their best. The school year begins August 25th so we will be collecting
supplies July through August. Items
most needed are:
3-ring binders, notebook dividers, college
& wide ruled notebook paper
colored pencils,
markers, highlighters, pencil boxes &
pouches
calculators, index cards,
rulers, pencil sharpeners
safety scissors,
erasers, composition books,
mechanical pencils & lead,
backpacks
Backpacks
are a premium item because they are more expensive than the other school
supplies so they are often in short supply. If you notice a great deal on
school backpacks somewhere in town, call 697-7029 and let us know.
Donations
of school supplies may be dropped off at Interfaith at:
210 Ehringhaus Street &
3rd Ave. West,
Monday
- Friday, 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.
Contributions
of money for the purchase of school supplies can be sent to Interfaith at:
IAM, PO Box 2562, Hendersonville,
NC 28793.
Please
be sure to write “school supplies” in the memo line of
your check.

Food
Pantry
The price of gas
just keeps on climbing and, along with it, the cost of food. This is impacting everyone’s budget. Henderson County residents who are
struggling on fixed and low-incomes are having a very difficult time as
there is no way to adjust their budget to account for the rising
expenses. Please keep IAM in mind
when you go food shopping and pick up a few items for the IAM Pantry. Food
is flying off the shelves and we want to always have enough for the people
who need it. During the summer
when children are home from school,
there is a greater need for kid-friendly foods: peanut butter &
jelly, macaroni & cheese, spaghetti & sauce, tuna, cereal, jello
and healthy snacks.
Clothing Closet
The
Clothing Closet needs more children’s shoes, men’s casual shoes in large-sizes and
towels.
Donations
can be dropped off at IAM, Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
at 210 Ehringhaus Street
(& 3rd Avenue
West).
